Phone line monitoring has been the standard option for residential security since conception. For many years land line monitoring was thought to be the most secure and safe way to have a residential alarm system monitored. Land line monitoring is definitely still a viable option for home security and it’s usually the least expensive but there is a vulnerability that cannot be ignored. Phone line monitoring is not reliable through sources such as MagicJack, Vonage or other VOIP services. Signals may be transmitted through these lines, but they are not a reliable source for phone line monitoring. Also, here in Florida our landline telephone wiring is run on the outside of the home. If your home phone line is ever cut or damaged by an intruder or even your phone technician the alarm will sound locally but no signals will go through to the monitoring center.

Internet monitoring is new to the security industry. Landline monitoring was the staple in home security for many years, until the cell unit came along. Now our clients have a new option for alarm communication. With an internet module the alarm system is able to communicate with the monitoring center through your broadband internet connection. The monitoring center is able to identify your account information by your home’s ip address. This is a great option for those who do not have a landline telephone. Cellular monitoring is still recommended as a backup source of communication.

Cellular monitoring is the best option today’s technology has to offer. The cell unit is a separate piece of equipment that can be added to an existing or new alarm system to allow communication through cell towers and satellite in the event of an emergency. The cell unit can be used as a primary or backup source of communication. No landline or internet is needed for the cellular primary monitoring service. The cell unit is undetectable and undestructable from the outside of the home – there are no wires to be cut or unplugged by an intruder. Cellular monitoring has advanced since it’s debut. In the event of an emergency a live Global Alarms operator comes across the speaker to communicate with you directly. The Lynx speaker and microphone are so sensitive our operators can communicate with you no matter what part of the house you’re in. The LifeSentry products include a waterproof pendant where the speaker and microphone are both built in.
